Whatsapp Inc. made an announcement on their blog as they celebrated their 7th anniversary that they will
discontinue support of the app on certain types of phones, which means that if you still use these phones by then, you will no longer be able to keep in touch with your friends, families, relatives via WhatsApp. This announcement is set to take effect as from January 1, 2017. The phones that will be discontinued includes:

- All types of Blackberry (including BlackBerry 10)
- All Nokia phones that run on old Nokia S40 software ( Asha, X2, X3, C2) etc.
- Nokia Symbian S60
- Android 2.1 and Android 2.2
- Windows Phone 7.1
