Flashing your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with a Custom Rom is not as is as ABC. It is not as easy and straight forward as it is in several MTK devices in the Andriod Market, but not to worry, there a method available now for users that wants to use a custom rom on their Redmi Note 3
Important Note: Installing a custom rom will void your warranty
There are several ways to install rom in Redmi Note 3 but there are several things that needs to be done first, they are:
- Making sure that the BootLoader of your Redmi Note 3 is unlocked
- Insatlling Team Win Recovery Project (TWERP) recovery in your Redmi Note 3
- You will need a PC with at least Windows XP and Xiaomi USB Drivers installed
- Downloading and Installing the desired Custom Rom
To unlock your Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, kindly refer to the post HERE, alternatively, you can do to following to get the bootloader unlocked
==>> Mi Flash Tool
==>> Then unzip Global Stable ROM and the Bootloader Unlock file into a folder.
==>> Put that file in your extracted Rom Folder after extraction and Press ‘Yes’ when you are asked ‘want to replace the file’
==>> Install ADB and Fastboot by simply double-clicking the .exe file. Then follow Step by step keep on-screen instructions that will appear.
==>> Connect your device to the PC and start the CMD Prompt by pressing Win+R buttons on your Keyboard
==>> Type ‘ADB devices’ and press enter. You should see a message like ‘f87gsjyx67 authorized’ it means your device is now connected to the PC.
==>> If your phone is connected properly, type ADB reboot EDL in the cmd.exe and press enter. This will make your your device to boot into EDL Mode.
==>> Your phone is gonna be totally blank and a red light blinking will be on top, now run the Mi Flash tool which you downloaded earlier.
==>> In the advance menu of your browser, you will see Flash Programmer, Raw XML file, then patch this file. Browse to the location where the ROM has been extracted and then select the following;
prog_emmc_firehose_xxxx.mbn for flash programmer
rawprogramo for Raw XML file
patcho for Pach XMLfile
==>> Press the refresh button on the MiFlash tool & you will see your device on MiFlash having some COM number. Press the flash and wait a couple of minutes.
==>> After completing the above steps, it is advice that you do not remove your phone but boot into fastboot mode immediately by pressing and holding the Vol down and Power buttons simultaneously.
==>> Again, run cmd.exe and Type fastboot OEM-device info and press enter button. Lastly, type fastboot OEM unlock-go and your device bootloader is now unlocked.
Installing Custom Recovery
After you've unlocked the bootloader do not reboot your device. Leave your device plugged in to your PC and Type fastboot reboot in cmd and download TWRP recovery. Now move the downloaded patched boot image and recovery to a single folder.
==>> Rename the files to recovery and boot. Make a shift - right - click on that folder and select ‘Open command prompt ‘. Now type ‘fastboot flash boot boot.img’. Disconnect the phone and go into recovery mode by pressing and holding Vol down and Power button all together.
==>> In the recovery mode, a message will appear asking you to allow modifications as to make TWRP? Press ‘Yes’ and Reboot the recovery and select system. Then wait for a few minutes, your device boots up for the first time.
If you flash TWRP successfully you will have no more need of your PC. Finally, you can flash a custom ROM now on your device. Here are few simple steps to install custom ROM on your Xiaomi Redmi Note
Flashing a Custom Rom
I guess you've successfully a custom recovery, Switch off your;e smartphone.
==>> Press Volume UP and Power button together in order to reboot to recovery.
In recovery menu, do a full wipe by selecting “Wipe” and do a standard Wipe".
==>> Select “Install” in recovery and navigate to the place where the ROM is located and flash it.
==>> Flash the G-apps immediately after installing the rom
==>> Select Reboot in recovery and select System.
==>> Now Your new ROM is ready to use.
