When Alibaba launched their internet car several months ago, and Samsung released their smart refrigerator, it made me wonder more and more where technology is going, what will be the face of the world in the next few decades to come. As usual, i kept my fingers cross and observed where this is all going and I imagined a world where Smartcars and Smarthouses exixted and today that imagination is one step close to becoming a reality.

The ability to seamlessly integrate smartphone apps with a car’s multimedia system answers a crying need from millions of car shoppers and owners who rely heavily on their handheld device for many, if not all of their communication, navigation and what I call info-tainment needs.
Several car which will offer CarPlay include BMW and Porsche, but so far neither has announced plans to add Android Auto. Mercedes-Benz offers both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on most models, but you can only get CarPlay on the GLS-Class and SL-Class. The Nissan Maxima also has CarPlay only for 2017.
Japanese automotive manufacturer, Toyota didn't show action that suggests they wish to either add Android Auto or Carplay to their models, they are developing their own system and currently offers Scout GPS Link, which allows integrating a smartphone navigation app with the vehicle multimedia system, on several Toyota and Lexus models.
Truths, Facts and Caution
Just like Allo, the truth is this: Not Everyone may be fully satisfied by current versions of Android Auto, Android Auto, just Android OS in smartphones does the same basic function in all vehicles, but each manufacturer may add different looks and tweaks to their own, thereby resulting in different multimedia systems with different controls and displays, so what you see and get might vary, but technically they're all the same and does the same job. It is always important to find out about any care you wish to buy before you buy and also, find out how well your phone and apps will work with that car.
Car shoppers should also be aware that Android Auto may be be unavailable on a particular version of a vehicle that offers it. For instance, you can’t get Android Auto on the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu L trim, which is the base model, and Kia makes it available only on models with the UVO multimedia system, a feature reserved for more-expensive models. Though Ford offers it on all of its vehicles, it also requires the Sync 3 infotainment system, which is optional on many models and not available on some.
Lastly, the list of vehicles that will offer Android Auto for 2017 is based on information obtained from the vehicle manufacturers. The rollout over the past two years hasn’t always been on time, so it is possible that availability could be delayed on some models until later in the model year or even until the 2018 model year.
