Google has this long tradition of naming Android versions after sweet treats and in alphabetical order. So far we've had Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean, KitKat, Lollipop, Marshmallow, and finally Nougat.
Google's Hiroshi Lockheimer stirred things up a bit when he took it to his twitter account and suggest the next Android Version will be Android 8.0 Oreo. So the big question now is this; is he right? Will the name Android Version be named Oreo?
What Will The Next Android Be Called?
In 2017, Google will be looking at another sweet eatable that will begin with the Letter O, and Oreo is the best guess. Another possible guess is Oatcake which is a Scottish biscuit made with oats. But it's unsweet taste has made it likely not to be chosen.
