This disclosure was made in a statement by Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, who is the Google Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa. “Starting from February 1 to February 8 this week could be described as quite sensational if one was to use the Google Trends as a measure as there were lots of searches and trending news in Nigeria.”- says Mr. Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade.

Still trending on Google top Searches, popular Nollywood filmmaker, Seun Karim, a.k.A Seun Egbegbe who attempted to defraud an unsuspecting Bureau De Change (BDC) operator, a sum of N10 million, was also trending.

The former governor of Delta State, James Ibori also made the news when he returned to Nigeria from the UK. His return to Nigeria after doing time in a London prison was one of the interesting stories that topped Google search this week.

2Face Idibia's protest was also one of the news that topped Google search in Nigeria. Towards the end of last month, a famous and iconic musician Tu-face Ididbia, popularly known by his stage name as 2Baba announced on social media that he would lead a protest against the Nigerian government. But he later backed out and the #IStandWithNigeria protest still, was held without 2Baba, who brought up the idea of the protest initially.
