Install LineageOS 14.1, Android 7.1 Nougat ROM on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4

Xiaomi Redmi 4 which was launched towards the end of 2016. It boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MUI 8. Comes with 3GB RAM size and 32GB internal memory space, with a fingerprint sensor located at the back. With is great features, the Redmi Note sure gives value for its cost. Like I said earlier, the phone runs on the company’s custom UI, i.e., the MIUI 8, which is cool, light and fast if you ask me, but if you want to get more from your device by installing a custom ROM, then this tutorial is for you.

To install LineageOS 14.1, Android 7.1 Nougat ROM on Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, there are basic things you need to do/note. They are:

1.    You need to make sure that your device is properly rooted and TWERP recovery fully installed. You can as well use any other type of recovery you want if you do not wish to use TWERP.

2.     You need to create a full Nandroid backup of your device, which usually comes in handy in any case the flashing goes south. You can easily use it to restore back your phone as it were.

3.    Your battery level shouldn't be less than 70%. You need to be certain that your battery power left in your device will be more than enough to carry out the flashing process. If your phone goes off during the flashing process, before it could be completed, it could damage your phone beyond repair.

4.    Lastly, you need to be fully aware that installation of custom ROMS will render your phone's warranty invalid.

So if you are set and ready to continue, you need to download Lineage OS 14.1 Nougat ROM For Redmi Note 4 from AdroidFileHost and then Android 7.1 Nougat GApps from Opengapps. Download GApps for your Redmi Note 4 depending on your phone's specs and architecture.

How To Flash The Zip Files 

==>>> Place the Downloaded Zip file to your external SD card

==>>   Boot your phone into recovery mode by turning it off, then press and hold the Volume Down + Power Button at the same time for several seconds.

==>>    Once your phone boots into recovery mode, go to Wipe options and then wipe data, system, cache and Dalvik cache.

==>>    Once the wipe is completed, use the volume buttons to navigate to the folder where you place the zip files you downloaded earlier. Then firstly flash the zip file containing the ROM.

==>>    Once the ROM installation has been completed, flash the GApps immediately

==>>    Finally, reboot your phone using the recob=very menu once the flashing has been completed successfully.

It is important to note that the first time boot after installing  LineageOS 14.1, Android 7.1 Nougat ROM to your Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 can take quite a few minutes than usual boot time. Subsequent booting in the future won't take the time anymore.
