Miraxess Mira PC Mode Turns Your Android Phone to PC

There has been several inventions and gadgets that that were used to get a desktop experience on a monitor using an Android phone. We have seen the likes of Jide's Remix OS. Also, there is Remix I/O which enables you to connect your smartphone to a TV and get a bigger screen. Just last month Samsung made it known that they want to bring Linux PC experience to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ using Samsung DeX. And now, a French startup known as Miraxess plans to begin shipping its Mirabook laptop dock for smartphones come March 2018.
Miraxess Mira PC Mode
Mirabook by Miraxess which was first seen in March 2017, is a device that looks like a laptop, but it is powered by your smartphone, giving you a way to use a touch-pad, keyboard, and display with your smartphone as if it is a pc. 8 months after its debut, Miraxess is introducing another way to connect your Android to their device and get a desktop-like interface with an app they call Mira PC Mode for Android. Basically, it’s an app that lets you get a desktop-like experience with or without a special dock. All you need is a cable to connect your phone to a monitor and Bluetooth mouse and/or keyboard.

Miraxess Mira PC Mode app will be first seen free on Google Play Store as OXI. Though it is a free app, there are also some in-app purchases for users that wish to unlock some premium options and features. The app is currently being developed by the company’s partner, Auxens and will be available starting from January 2018.

The OXI app will be a version of the software that lets you use your phone with the upcoming Miraxbook laptop dock. In addition to launching in the Google Play store, Miraxess says the companies are talking to phone makers about the possibility of preloading the app on phones to offer out-of-the-box support for a desktop mode.

However, their minimum requirement is a bit high as Miraxess states that users phone must have a USB Type-C port, a USB Type-C to HDMI cable, and maybe a phone with at least 4GB of RAM.

With Miraxess Mira PC Mode app, I can certainly imagine a future where our phones become our primary PCs. And when that happens, the need to sync data between devices or install multiple versions of the same app across device platforms will be eliminated. But right now, the requirements are a bit off the chart and I hope that it'll be minimized in future.
