Xiaomi is set to announce the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus smartphones in China towards this weekend. Donovan Sung who is the director of the company beat Evan Blass to show off the highly anticipated duo smartphones in a Twitter post during the early hours of today. For now, there are no confirmed details in regards to the specs of the phone but from the pictures released by the director, we can see that both phones have slim bezels and roughly 18:9 screens, in line with many high-end devices released in 2017.
The prices of the phones are for now not confirmed as well but we can only compare it to the earlier released Xiaomi Redmi 4 which started at a retail pricing of about $110. Dual metal build and a fingerprint sensor, a 5-inch 720p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor, a 13-megapixel camera, and a 4,100mAh battery.
The Redmi 4 wasn't only the cheap smartphones that have been released by Xiaom, we the prices of Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite were as well cheap and can easily be afforded, unlike several other 2017 high-end smartphones.
Not only that, Xiaomi recently launched an even cheaper phone, the Redmi 5A, which sells for $78 with a 3,000mAh battery and Snapdragon 425 processor.
The 2017 Xiaomi is expected to be launched on Thursday, December 7, 2017, and I believe that if Xiaomi maintains it's recent price range and still produce quality high-end smartphones, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5+ Full-Screen Smartphones will be a huge success and many sales will be made.
