What is Linux Distro? Linux Distribution (often called Linux Distro) is Just like the Android OS if you're a developer, you get a boot image and create a custom Rom with many features as you like, that will be in a flashable zip format, the same way, you get a kernel and you create a Linux distro which will be basically the same from the official version, but with a personalized and customized feature. So in general, for more understanding, a Linux Distro is just like your regular custom ROM for Android but are meant for PC.
So now that you've gotten the basic knowledge what a Linux distro is, let me quickly introduce to you several Linux distro you can easily download and use if you wish to become a Linux user. Some of these Linux Distro are free, while some have both the free version and the paid premium version. No matter who you are, what you do, whether you're a beginner, gamer, graphics artist, web and Android developer, pen. tester, or just a regular user, Linux got you covered. So here is a list of Linux distro that suits you.
1. Linux Mint: Linux Mint is a free Linux distribution. It is suitable for computers with good specs. It has many versions, and each of these versions comes with a different code name. The most recent version of Linux Mint is version 18.1 (code named Serena) and was released last week. It is available for and free to use in both 32 and 64bit. You can visit the official website here at https://www.linuxmint.com/ or the official download page https://www.linuxmint.com/download.php.
2. Ubuntu: Besides the official Kali, Ubuntu is my favourite Linux distro. Ubuntu is the best and recommended Linux distro for most or regular computers and PC. It has several versions with a unique name. Linux Mint uses the names of women for their code name version starting from Ada which was the first release, to Sarah which is the version 18.0 and now Serena which version 18.1. In that same manner, Ubuntu uses the names of animals from Warty which was the codename for the first release of Ubuntu, to Yakkety, and now Zesty (means rat) which will be the code-name for the next version of Ubuntu that is scheduled for release in April 2017.
3. Puppy Linux: Just like the name sounded, it the best and recommended Linux distro for users with low-quality machines with little specs. Computers that cannot carry heavy use and tasks due to old age or low processor, ram, and other specs. You can visit the official website page at http://puppylinux.org/ or the official download page at www.puppylinux.org/downloads. So if you own a PC with a lower spec, you can go right ahead and download Puppy Linux, it's just 100mb or a little over that.
4. Arch Linux: Arch Linux (or Arch) for short is a Linux distribution for computers based on IA-32 and x86-64 processor architectures. It is composed predominantly of free and open-source software and supports community involvement. The design approach of the Arch Linux development team follows the KISS principle ("keep it simple, stupid") as the general guideline, and focuses on elegance, code correctness, minimalism and simplicity, and expects the user to be willing to make some effort to understand the system's operation. It comes with Pacman, which is a package manager written specifically for Arch Linux and is used to install, remove and/or update software packages. The Arch Linux uses a rolling release model, such that a regular system update is all that is needed to obtain the latest Arch software. It has comprehensive documentation in the form of a community wiki, called the ArchWiki. You can visit the download page here at https://www.archlinux.org/download/ to get an ISO copy of Arch Linux (about 700mb)
5. Elementary OS: Some may agree, some may not, but personally, Elementary OS it the most beautiful Linux distro ever. It comes with a carefully curated selection of apps that cater for your everyday needs so you can spend more time using your PC and less time cleaning up bloatware. Some of the apps include Music, Epiphany (Internet browser), Camera, Scratch (for notes), File Manager, Command Terminal, etc. Elementary OS is not free but Open Source, you are to donate any amount of money as you wish first before downloading the ISO of 1.4GB and can be used on a Mac as well. You can visit https://elementary.io/ to download the OS.
