Towards the end of 2016, Linux Mint released the Cinnamon and MATE versions of the much-awaited Linux Mint 18.1, aka Serena. These versions shipped with Cinnamon 3.2 and MATE 1.16. Now, the Mint project team has graced us with the KDE and Xfce version of the popular Linux Distro.
Surprisingly, the team behind Linux Mint said that they will give support to their distro until the next 5 years (counting from 2016). This new KDE and Xfce versions of Mint come with several new tweaks and refinements, which is intended to improve the OS and makes its usage more delightful.
Now Let's Take A Look At the Two New Releases
The Xfce edition of Serena is based on the latest Xfce 4.12 desktop environment with an upgraded Whisker application menu of version 1.6.2. It also comes with a collection of Mint’s homegrown XApps applications, like Xplayer, Xreader, Xviewer, etc.
The KDE Edition spots a beautiful KDE Plasma 5.8.5 LTS desktop environment. The Update Manager, Software Sources, Input Methods, Language Settings tools, etc, also have numerous improvements.

Getting the ISO file is very easy as usual, just log on to the Linux Mint Download Page and get the ISO img files for yourself, based on your machine's architecture. It comes readily avail-be in 64 and 32 bits respectively.
Finally, I highly recommend Linux Mint for any Linux beginner or aspirant. Or better still, try out Zorin 12 which has some similar features with Microsoft's Windows X
