The next generation smartphone may be here sooner than we think because almost all the technology giants and smartphone makers are already investing millions and billions of dollars into research and development of the next generation 5G communications technology. We have earlier seen tech companies like Nokia, ZTE's Gigabit Phone, Huawei, and Qualcomm demonstrate their 5G telecoms device.
In a related and exciting development, a Twitter user named Sherif Hanna has tweeted the picture of a phone, which he claims to be the world’s first 5G smartphone. Hanna is the marketing lead for LTE and 5G NR Modems for Qualcomm. In his tweet, he posted a picture of a smartphone with caption: “Hard to believe that I have the world’s first 5G smartphone in my hand!”
The said 5G phone appears to be a dual camera smartphone with dual LED flashlight. The cameras are horizontally aligned, the LED flashlights are vertically aligned. And at the rear of the smartphone is a Qualcomm Snapdragon logo at the bottom.
The 5G smartphone in the picture is Qualcomm’s first mmWave 5G reference design and it is not a final unit. The company designed the same for testing and optimizing the 5G mmWave performance for a mobile form factor.
