WhatsApp has been the best option for instant messaging to many active Internet users for more than 3 years now, and over more than five decades WhatsApp has been in existence, there has been many improvements to the platform.

Many of these improvements includes ability to use whatsapp on PC via WhatsApp Web or several other PC Android Emulator Like Remix OS or Bluestack. As time went by, WhatsApp introduced several other cool new features in and adding special text effects which really entice the chatting experience.

WhatsApp virus, Whatsapp scam, Whatsapp download

Recently, due to security concerns, WhatsApp also introduced A 2-Step-Verification feature which essentially gives the rightful user access to a particular WhatsApp account. Apart from that, WhatsApp also introduced the video calling feature which users can use freely to make instant video call to one another. Tho this feature was first made available only to Beta Testers, but was later made available to officially to everyone. All of these new features of WhatsApp and more are the main reason behind the suspension of whatsapp in many phones in the coming months.

Now all these and many other reasons makes WhatsApp a fertile ground hackers and many cyber perpetrators and pretty  much Facebook, because, they're both a popular social media platform with billions of daily active users, most which are unwitting.

Recent reports reveals that hackers has now devised a way to trick unaware WhatsApp users in downloading and installing viruses in into their smartphones just by downloading whatsapp attachments.

Once the documents are downloaded and opened up,  host of viruses make their way onto the phone. Once that has happens, the virus will be able to extract personal information like login details and banking details, etc. though the problem appears to be limited primarily to Android phones due to natural vulnerabilities Android OS was born with.

These scams may take a number of different forms, but are mostly delivered through a message that looks harmless or useful but is secretly intended to take over your device.

It is always advised not to click on any any suspecting-looking messages, be it on Whatsapp or anywhere else. Even if a friend sends a message that  is worth checking out and is appealing. Always check the authenticity of that attachment. Some hackers are very good at disguising their viruses to look like more ordinary messages.

It is true that WhatsApp introduced document sharing feature in its updates, as a part of making the chat app to be more of a useful platform for work as well as entertainment and socializing. But it also adds extra vulnerabilities to it, because documents like Excel spreadsheets and PDFs can include viruses.
