It another weekend again and I can't wait to fall into my bed and have this long and uninterrupted rest I have been picturing in my mind since Monday. It is customary in most cities around the world to engage in one or two social or non-social activities. Some would love to visit a friend or colleague or family member, and so on. Me, on the other hand, loves to see one or two games and probably a few series and episodes of my favourite tv shows. And here is how I do watch movies and tv shows online for free. Oh, they all are legal
1. Crackle
Crackle is an ad-supported streaming service that is owned by Sony, it offers both TV series and movies - including some original content. Crackle doesn't need you to setup an account, it is free and open and is supported on various platforms. To enjoy the full features of crackle, you will have to open a full account and have a unique ID and password. with the account, you get to have options like resume playback, save favorites etc.
2. Hoopla Digital
This is like your regular movie library where you borrow movies and watch at a later time. Hoopla is suitable for users that have a library card. When you "borrow" a movie, you have 72 hours in which to watch it and your library card determines the total number of movies you can borrow each month. Hoopla is compatible with iOS, Android, and PC and can be viewed in a browser. It can also be cast to Google Chromecast (Gen 1 or 2) or an Apple TV. Another amazing feature of Hoopla Digital is that its mobile apps can be used to both stream and also a download option for offline viewing.
3. Kanopy
Kanopy is another movie library, it is the best alternative for users whose library card does not support Hoopla. Kanopy is based on educational contents and is most suitable for college students. It started in Australia and is now available in over 3,000 worldwide. It has channel apps for Android and iOS.
4. Tubi TV
Tubi TV offers both commercial and free contents from top movie production companies like Metro Golden Meyer, Lionsgate, Paramount, etc. Tubi TV shares some similarities with crackle in the terms of not requiring a login detail in order to access it. Though creating an account will give you some extra features like the ability to save favorite videos and resume playback if you switch between devices. Tubi TV does not offer the option to download movies for offline viewing. It also supports iOS, Android, Apple TV, Samsung smart TV, Amazon Fire TV. SOme game consoles like PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One,
5. Yahoo View
I recently stumbled upon Yahoo view which is a TV streaming service that is owned by Yahoo. It offers mostly on TV shows and a few movies which are seen in the movie section. Two things I have come to observe and love about Yahoo view is that it doesn't need a Yahoo account to access it. And secondly, Yahoo's recent partnership with Hulu has yielded lots of great TV shows and movies to watch and no subscription required. The downside is that Yahoo's movies can only be accessed only on the web.
6 Internet Archive
Internet Archive is a public domain for thousands of free, lengthy movies and it does not require you to have any account to use it. The Internet Archive is exclusive on the web, so you'll need a browser to access it. However, there are claims that some mobile browsers like Apple's Safari on iOS can be used to access and stream the movie contents on Internet Archive.
7. YouTube
This list can never be complete without mentioning world's second most visited website. YouTube is owned and managed by Google themselves. You can do more than just get music videos, movie trailers, tutorial videos, new articles, comedy clips, etc. YouTube also offers full lengthy and complete TV shows and movies
